Surrey resumed on 49-0 and twenty runs were added before Keith Barker had Burns caught for 34.
Harinath and Solanki put on a century partnership before Solanki who had made 69 was trapped lbw by Ateeq Javid.
Harinath had made 69 but in the 65th over, he was caught by Jim Troughton off the bowling of Rikki Clarke.
Boyd Rankin came in removed de Bruyn, Meaker and WIlson and Roy was caught by Troughton but Ponting was unbeaten on fifty as Surrey closed for 269-7.
