Warwicks Finally Win A YB40 Game

At the fourth attempt, Warwickshire finally won their first Yorkshire Bank 40 game of the season with a eight run win at Sussex.

Warwicks lost the toss and were put into bat by Sussex at Hove and after rain reduced the match to 21 overs per side, Warwicks made steady progress scoring at 7.47 an over.

Varun Chopra made 28, Tim Ambrose 40 and Darren Maddy 49 as Warwicks closed on 157-7.

They struck early with Sussex reduced to 2-2 with Chris Wright taking the wickets of Nash and Hamilton-Brown who were both caught.

Ed Joyce made 31 before he was caught by Wright to give Jeetan Patal a wicket with a second for the right arm offbreak bowler when he had Luke Wright caught by Will Porterfield after making 44.

Chris Wright took his third wicket having Yardy caught and although Joe Gatting made 24, they fell short of the target and gave Warwickshire a win by eight runs.
