Warwickshire County Cricket Club were denied a win against Somerset by the rain in their County Championship game at Edgbaston.

On the final day, the Warwickshire bowlers quickly got into Somerset who had resumed on 133-2.

Keith Barker has dangerman Nick Compton caught behind by Tim Ambrose for the third wicket which was quickly followed by Jeetan Patal bowling James Hildreth for six and Barker removing Kieswetter for a duck.

Recordo Gordon took the wicket of Dockrell before Patal claimed the scalps of Alex Barrow who had made 39 and Peter Trego who had made sixteen.

Patal then recorded figures of 5-67 from 36 overs when he trapped Chawla lbw and finished off the Somerset batting when he caught Thomas for a third wicket for Barker.

With Somerset 255 all out, Warwicks needed 189 to win from a minimum of 49 overs.

Varan Chopra and Ian Westwood passed the century mark but a run later, Westwood who was on 49 was bowled by Steve Kirby.

Ateeq Javid could only make two runs before he too was bowled by Kirby to see Warwicks on 107-2 in the 27th over.

Laurie Evans was still waiting to score when he was caught by Kieswetter after trying to hook a Thomas ball and then the rain came down. With Warwicks still requiring 66 more runs, the players went off, not to return and the game was declared a draw..
