Warwicks Defeat At Sussex

Warwickshire Bears were knocked off the top of the CB40 Group C table after a 17 run defeat to Sussex tonight.

Sussex Sharks batted first at Hove against Chris Wright who took three wickets and  Keith Barker who took two including Michael Yardy who top-scored with 61.

Muray Goodwin made 36 whilst Kirk Vernars made an unbeaten 37 as Sussex completed their foirty overs on 199/9.

Warwicks put on 31 before Will Porterfield was run out for 20. Laurie Evans added twenty two and Tim Ambrose 31.

Jim Troughton made 30 and Warwicks were just scoring at a fast enough rate. Troughton's wicket left Warwicks on 101 for 4 in the 21st over.

However, the wickets continued to fall. Clarke went for four, Darren Maddy twelve, Keith Barker 26, Stefan Piolet 28 and Best out for a golden duck to leave Warwicks needing thrity from nine balls.

It was 24 from the final over. Chris Nash bowled the final over and was hit for four in his first ball by Jeetan Patel in his last game before leaving to team up with New Zealand. 

Luke Wright dropped Chris Wright as Warwicks needed 18 from the final three balls. However, Nash bowled Patal and Warwicks went down to a 17 run defeat.
