Warwicks Can't Maintain Unbeaten T20 Winning Run

Warwickshire County Cricket Club could not make it three T20 wins out of three against Northamptonshire at Edgbaston today.

Northamptonshire batted first and had Andrew Miller take the wickets of the openers to leave them on 8-2.

Alex Wakeley and Stephen Peters put on 49 for the third wicket which saw Peters become the first of three victims for Jeetan Patel.

Skipper Andrew Hall was out after making a single and when Wakely was out, trapped lbw by Stefan Piolet, Northants were 61-5 in the ninth over.

Johan Botha went for eight, David Murphy for three and James Middlesbrook for twenty to see Patel with figures of 3-19 and Stefan Piolet 3-25.

However, David Willey (22 not out) and Jack Brooks (33 not out) put on 59 to see Northampton end their twenty overs on 150-8.

Warwicks lost Neil Carter for ten and in the sixth over, Will Porterfield was out for eight with Jim Troughton following three balls later.

With thoughts turning to the Duckworth/Lewis as spots of rain started to fall, something Warwicks were behind on - Darren Maddy only added two more to the total.

Varun Chopra had made 19 but he became the fifth Warwickshire batsman to lose his wicket when he was trapped lbw by Botha.

51-5 in the tenth over became 64-6 in the thirteenth when Rikki Clarke provided former Warwicks player Lee Daggert with a wicket.

Then the famous Warwickshire collapse reared its head and in the space of four over, Warwicks were all out for 110 following Barker, Tim Ambrose who top scored with 25, Patel and Stefan Piolet who made 21 all lost their wickets to give Northamptonshire a 40 run victory.

Warwicks next match is against Nottinghamshire at Egbaston on Wednesday. Play is due to start at 5.30pm and you can hear commentary on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire's website.

Warwicks 2nd X1 beat Northamptonshire at Stow School by 84 runs.Ian Westwood made 99 and Ateeq Javid 101 not out as the Bears declared on 404-7.

Northants were bowled out for 250 and Warwicks didn't enfore the follow on and they made 212-7 before declaring and setting Northampton 362 from 82 overs. Mal Loye made 97 but Tom Allin 5-67 and Ateeq Javid 5-107 reduced Northants to 283 all out and give Warwicks the win.
