Warwickshire County Cricket Club made an excellent 571 in their first innings against Surrey at Edgbaston.

Resuming on 322-6, Jim Troughton was able to pass the one hundred mark in the opening session with his century coming from 231 balls.

The Stratford born player was eventually out for 119 in the 127th over to become the seven Warwickshire batsman to lose his wicket.

Keith Barker came in and then departed without troubling the scorers whilst at the other end, Chris Woakes was in great form, hitting an unbeaten 118.

Jeetan Patel chipped with 76 before he was caught and bowled by Kartik and when Boyd Rankine was run out for five, Warwicks were all out for 571.

When Surrey batted, they had Ansari trapped lbw by Woakes after scoring ten runs but with Burns on 53 not out and Harinath 44 not out, the vistors closed on 109-1.
