Warwicks Beaten At Surrey

Warwickshire County Cricket Club were beaten by three wickets in a Pro 40 game at Surrey today.                         

At Guildford today, Warwicks batted first and had lost both openers Varun Chopra and Neil Carter before they had thirty runs on the board.

Will Porterfield added eight before Jim Troughton and Tim Ambrose added 53 for the fourth wicket which came in the 23rd over when Troughton was out lbw to Ansari.

Ambrose and Clarke had added fifty five to Warwickshire's score when the wicket keeper was the third player removed by Yasir Arafat who then took the wickets of Chris Woakes and Rikki Clarke, who had made 76 from 61 balls including nine fours and two sixes, to take his figures to 5-45 from eight overs.

Dernbach had Keith Barker caught as Warwicks ended their forty overs on 225-8.

When Surrey batted, Jeetan Patel had Hamilton Brown out straight away without scoring and then Chris Woakes removed Roy to see Surrey on 15-2.

Woakes had opener Steve Davies caught after he hade made 23 before Maynard and Zander de Bruin who made an unbeaten 84 added 58 for the fourth wicket.

Clarke, Petal and Carter took wickets but Surry kept up with the run rate and needed five runs with two overs to go.

Three singles came before De Bruin hit a four in the penultimate over to give Surrey a three wickets win.
