Warwickshire County Cricket Club snatched a four wicket victory over Durham with a last ball victory in a 20/20 Northern Group game.

On a new wicket in front of a small crowd at Edgbaston, Warwickshire won the toss and put Durham who needed to win into bat.

Warwickshire's number seven Neil Carter bowled the first over to Phil Mustard who hit a four and a single off the first six deliveries,

In the third over, Graham Muchall who had made one was caught by Keith Barker who then sent a superb left arm throw at the stumps to run out Mustard who had made fourteen and leave Durham on 18-2.

With the powerplay finished, Durham were on 28-2. They had added five more runs when Blackwell was caught and bowled by Stefan Piolet.

Warwickshire, playing for pride, kept up the pressure and a cracking throw by Chris Woakes saw David Miller runs out after scoring eleven runs from twelve balls.

After ten overs, Durham were on 49-4. They upped the rate with Collingwood and Benkenstein both hitting sixes.

Collingwood went for another six but this time Rikki Clarke was on the boundary and pulled off a superb one handed catch to remove the former England international for 24 from 23 balls.

With fifteen overs gone, Durham were 94-5. In the remaining five overs, Dale Benkenstein got to his fifty and he and Breese made a fifty partnership.

A four finished the innings as Durham closed on 145-5 with Benkenstein 50 not out and Breese 31 not out.

It took nine balls for Warwicks to get on the board with Neil Carter hitting a single. Chopra then hit two fours from the next two balls.

Warwicks were 15-0 after three overs. In the next over, Varun Chopra went for a big hit off a Liam Plunkett ball and was caught on the boundary by Claydon after making nine runs.

Darren Maddy came in and helped move the score to 30-1 from five overs leaving Warwicks 116 runs to win from 90 balls.

Thirteen more runs including a Maddy six were added before the powerplay was over.

Warwicks were now well ahead of Durham's score and by the tenth over, they had taken their score to 85-1.

Neil Carter was out trapped lbw making 38 from 36 balls and Jim Troughton came in with Warwicks needing just over a run a ball.

Durham tightened up their bowling and had Darren Maddy who had made 40 caught by Miller in the sixteenth over.

Warwicks were hitting singles and needed 28 runs from the final three overs. Rikki Clarke hit a six and then next ball was caught by Miller to see Warwicks on 120-4.

Troughton and Chris Woakes were at the crease, knowing that three sixes would be enough for victory.

Three singles, a two and two fours came from the penultimate over. Scott Brothwick bowled the final over and took a wicket with his first ball when Troughton was caught by Muchall after making 28.

The pair had crossed so it was Woakes rather than Barker on strike. The second ball of the over produced a single. Barker then ran a single. Woakes hit another single. Barker went for the big shot and was caught by Muchall.

The final ball fell to Chris Woakes hit the ball for four to give Warwicks a four wickets victory.

Warwicks final 20/20 game is away to Lancashire on Wednesday at 7pm. The game is live on Sky Sports and also on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
