Viviani Wins Dubai Tour Stage Two

Team Sky's Elia Viviani is the new leader of the Dubai Tour after taking victory on the second stage.

Marcel Kittel was the leader after winning the sprint on the opening stage for this 183km stage from Dubai International Marine Club to Palm Jumeirah on temperatures of 23 degrees.

One Pro Cycling's Marcin Bialoblocki got into a four man break along with Dillier, Mancebo and De Kort and he took the first two sprints on a stage where the stage was shortened due to roadworks and safety concerns.

The quartet had a lead of 1.01 with 57.3kms left as they went past the Dubai Sports City.

At the Jumeirah Golf Estates, Marcin Bialoblocki took the sprint to give himself five points and put himself in to the sprint jersey with fifteen points.

Their lead stood at 1.27 before dropping under a minute going into the final twenty five kilometres.

Mancebo tried to stay clear but with twelve kilometres to go, the last man in the break was caught.

Bialoblocki now worked for his British team who were on the front with eight kilometres to go.

Over the bridge and on to the palm and One Pro were still on the front with Etixx and Team Sky. Team Wiggins took a turn on the front with Sir Bradley Wiggins putting in a turn as Mark Cavendish moved up.

Under the tunnel and there was a crash as Tinkoff hit the front. Team Sky came in behind them and Elia Viviani made his move to take the victory in 4.07.42 ahead of Sacha Modolo and Giacomo Nizzolo and followed by Guardini, Vaitkus, Swift, Kolar, Stepniak, Opie and Mark Cavendish.

Viviani now leads the race going into the third stage and he said: "Today, we had a perfect lead out, yesterday we had some faults and we went too early.

"It was the perfect leadout for me and thanks to the team for a perfect job.

"I prefer to win in San Luis to start the season but I won here, so maybe this is a lucky race for me."
