Trott Hits 71 For England

Warwickshire's Jon Trott hit 71 on the opening day of the first test against South Africa at The Oval.

England batted first and lost Strauss after only four balls. Trott and Cook put together a partnership of 170 before Trott, who had made 71, was caught by De Villiers off the bowling of Morkel.

Kevin Pietersen made a quick fire 42 before he too lost his wicket.

Coventry born Ian Bell was unbeaten on ten whilst at the other end, Alistair Cook who had been in fine form was still there on 114 as England closed on 267-3
