Tommy Voeckler Wins Tour De La Provence

Direct Energy's Tommy Voeckler has won the first ever Tour De La Provence.

The third and final 171km stage from La Ciotat to Marseille had Direct Energy's Tommy Voeckler still in the leader's jersey and was a stage shich saw Bernal, Chetout, Dassonville, Edet, El Fares, Lecuisinier, Riblon, Talansky and Vicioso get away about forty kilometres in.

They took a lead of 2.25 and 2.50 after 57kms.

However, as the road flattened out with sixty kilometres to go, only Brun, Chetout and Vimpere were ahead with a 1:05 advantage and Rémy Di Gregorio having sewn up the KOM jersey when his main rival Julien Antomarchi was forced to abandon.

The break was caught by a peloton which now consisted of about twenty five riders and it came down to a bunch sprint with Fernando Gaviria of Etixx Quick Step taking the win ahead of Wyss, Gavazzi, Feillu and Roux.

Tommy Voeckler finished safely in the pack and took the overall victory.
