T20 Defeat For Warwicks

Warwickshire County Cricket Club went down to a one wicket T20 defeat at home to Worcestershire tonight.

Warwicks batted first and lost Neil Carter for six before Varun Chopra became Shanty's second victim in the fifth over when he was caught for 19.

Darren Maddy went in the eighth over for eight whilst at the other end, Will Porterfield was in good form hitting seven fours and two sixes in an innings of 54.

Troughton went for eight and then Porterfield before Rikki Clarke was out.

That left Warwicks on 119-6 with five overs and five balls to go. Tim Ambrose made an unbeaten 44 and Chris Woakes seventeen as Warwicks closed on 184-6

Rain delayed the start of Worcestershire's innings. The visitors had put on 32 in 3.2 over when Ali was caught by Jeetan Patel off the bowling of Woakes,   

Barker had Kervezee caught by Chopra without scoring and in the sixth over, Solanki who had made 33 was bowled by Woakes.

Stefan Piolet took the wickets of Cameron, Al Hasan and Mitchell and Patel took bowled Scott before Gareth Andrew came in and upped the pace.

He hit twenty runs off the sixteenth over and kept going smacking a six to leave the visitors needing eight runs from 13 balls.

Choudhry was caught by Carter off the bowling of Darren Maddy and Whelan was bowled by Keith Barker, leaving Worcestershire needing four runs from the final over which was bowled by Neil Carter.

First ball, Graham smacked a six and gave Worcestershire a one wicket win with five balls to spare. 

Warwickshire are at home to Lancashire on Sunday. Play is due to start at 2.30pm.
