Team Dimension Data's Steve Cummings will be going to the Rio Olympics after all.

Cummings had been left out of the initial squad but will replace Peter Kennaugh who has been forced to withdraw, due to still struggling after breaking his right collarbone two months ago

The Wirral hailing rider will ride in the mens road race.

Kennaugh said to British Cycling: “London 2012 was one of the highlights of my career so I am gutted to be missing out on Rio but, knowing that I am not able to give my best, I felt it was my duty to withdraw.”

Cummings said: “I've shown over the 2016 season to date that I am in great shape and I look forward to going to Rio to represent my country and hopefully we as a team come back with a medal from the road race.”
