Belgian Sep Vanmarcke of LottoNL-Jumbo took over the lead of the  Ster ZLM Toer with victory on stage four.

On the 187km stage, Peter Lenderink (Rabobank Development Team), Jimmy Janssens (Team 3M), Jochem Hoekstra (Parkhotel Valkenburg), Vegard Stake Laengen (IAM Cycling), Ivar Slik (Team Roompotstraat), Florian Senechal, Joey Rosskopf (BMC), Xandro Meurisse (Crelan-Vastgoedservice), Elias Breussegem (Verandas Willems) and Philip Gaimon (Cannondale) got in the break and were away for most of the race with Janssens taking the KOM points to put in the lead in that competition and Peter Lenderink taking the sprints.

They were caught apart from Norwegian Vegard Stake Laengen who managed to get within a few kilometres of the finish line before he was caught by the peloton.

Sep Vanmarcke made his move in the final kilometre and beat Wout Van Aert in the sprint to take the win and the lead going into the final stage.

Vanmarcke said about his win "It's pretty amazing that I am here today victorious suit. As a team, we go strong. This ride was a bit too hard for our sprinter Dylan Groenewegen, so we have another plan.

"I knew we were well positioned at the last corner, but it was still an end to the mark. It's great to win here. "
