Rohan Dennis Wins Tour Of California Time Trial

Rohan Dennis has won the Tour Of California Time Trial

The time trial on stage six was a 20.3km stage in Folsom and saw Tinkoff's Michal Kolar setting the quickest early time with a time of 27:25.

His team mate Oscar Gatto then went quicker at 26:54 before Ben Wolfe of Jelly Belly p/b Maxxis finished in 25:50.

Sir Bradley Wiggins suffered problems with his handlebar and finished well down the order in 27.57 whilst his team mate Andrew Tennant finished in 26.28 to go second.

World Time Trial Champion Vasil Kiryienka was fastest at the first check point as British rider Owain Doull finished in 25.21.

Kiryienka kept going and set the new fastest time with a time of 25:00 until Taylor Phinney of BMC flew home in 24.36.

Peter Sagan finished in 25.43 long before Julian Alaphilippe of Etixx - Quick-Step was the last man down the ramp.

Cannondale's Andrew Talansky in a Captain America skinsuit, was quick at the first time check and he finished in 24.33 to take over as the stage leader.

BMC's Rohan Dennis was the stage favourite and the Aussie did not disappoint finishing in 24.16 to beat Talansky's time by seventeen seconds..

Alaphilippe was riding to keep himself in the leader's golden jersey and needed to finish in a time of better than 25.17 to say in the race lead and he finished in 25.01 to ensure that he kept the race lead with two stages to go.
