Primoz Roglic of LottoNl-Jumbo has won the second time trial at the Giro D'Italia.

Stage nine was another time trial and this time, it was over 40kms with a start and finish in Chianti.

Cheng Ji was first down down the ramp but it was Mathias Brandle who set the early fastest time of 51.55.

Primoz Roglic of LottoNl-Jumbo who had done well in the prologue in Apeldoorn, took over in the hot seat with a time of 51:45.

The rain was coming down really hard, meaning that riders were having to ride with caution and times were slower.

Race leader Gianluca Brambrilla went down the ramp at 4.15pm local time as a disappointed Tom Dumolin came home 1.58 down.

Ilnur Zakarin had three crashes and finished 3.51 down whilst Brambrilla could only finish in 17th with a time of 53.50 to give Roglic the win.

That was time was enough, however, to keep Brambrilla in the maglia rosa going in to the rest day.
