Philippe Gilbert of BMC took the victory on the Skoda Tour De Luxembourg stage two.

Stage two was a 163km stage from Rosport to Schiffiange and saw three riders including Martin Mortensen of ONE Pro Cycling in a break which at one time numbered seven riders and one which was four minutes ahead after fifty kilometres.

That gap dropped slightly to 2.30 going into the final forty kilometres.

BMC got on the front of the peloton and upped the pace, so that the trip out front were only forty seconds ahead with 22kms left.

The final climb had gradients of 17% and the peloton had reeled in the break by the time they started on the climb.

Everyone was altogether so it came down to a sprint and Philippe Gilbert took the win ahead of Maurits Lammertink of Roompot, who now takes over the lead of the race and Alex Kirsch of Stoltling Service Group.

British rider Dion Smith of ONE Procycling was eighth.
