Giacomo Nizzolo of Trek Segefredo is back in the lead of the Tour Of Croatia after winning the third stage.

Mark Cavendish had been in the leader's jersey for this 190 stage from Makarska to Šibenik along the Dalmation coast but was down the field as Nicola Boem of Bardiani CSF took the first climb of the day after twelve kilometres.

Boem, the KOM leader, was part of an eight man group which dropped to six, including British rider Mark Christian of Team Wiggins, Josef Gerny, Kamil Gradek, Oveckin and 32 year old Marcin Bialoblocki of One Pro Cycling and one that had a lead of over five minutes which was down to three minutes with seventy kilometres to go.

Fifty kilometres later and they still had a lead of two minutes whilst Jay Thomson of Dimension Data took a big turn on the front.

Boem took his KOM points tally to seventeen with another three points on the third climb of the day.

The peloton started to close down the six up front as they headed towards the town of Šibenik, which was an Italian town up until 1921.

With one ten kilometre lap of Šibenik left, the six out front who had been riding for four hours and twenty three minutes, were only fifty seconds clear.

Six kilometres later and on the final climb, there were splits in the peloton which let the six up front stay 21 seconds clear.

Inside the final two kilometres and the six were nineteen seconds ahead. There was a four man crash at the back of the peloton but on the front the sex clear were working together.

The peloton was in sight as Mark Christian took his turn on the front. Bialoblocki put in a turn but the peloton continued to close in and as they went under the flam rouge, the peloton caught them.

Trek got their men to the front and it was Giacomo Nizzolo who took the win in 4.35.42 ahead of Dupont and Perlucci with Mark Cavendish in fourth.

The win and ten points bonus sees Giacomo Nizzolo back in the leader's red and white jersey with Mark Cavendish in the blue points jersey.
