Lizzie Armitstead Wins Aviva Women's Tour

Lizzie Armitstead has won the 2016 Aviva Women's Tour.

Boels Dormans rider Lizzie Armitstead was in the yellow jersey for this final 113.2km stage from Northampton to Kettering.

The action started early with a sprint after 8.5kms and it was Lizzie Armitstead (Boels Dolmans) who took the points.

Eight riders in Cecchini, Bastianelli, Weaver, Bujak, Rowney, Kitchen, Lepistö, Ensing, attacked and took on the climb at Newnham Hill with a lead of 1.15

Bujak (BTC City Ljubljana) took that climb as the gap went to 4.55. That went down to 2.35 after 72kms for the leaders which now comprised of seven riders. 

The break stayed away and it was Lotto Lepiso who took the win in 2.58.00, followed by Bastianelli, (Ale Cipollini). Cecchini E. (Canyon/SRAM), Kitchen L. (Hitec Products)and Bujak E. (BTC City Ljubljana.

Armitstead finished safely to take the over all win.
