Lammertink Wins Tour De Luxembourg

Maurits Lammertink has won the Skoda Tour De Luxembourg.

Maurits Lammertink (Roompot Oranje-Pack) went into the final 178.2km stage from Mersch to Luxembourg with a seven second advantage over Anthony Turgis and twelve seconds over Philippe Gilbert (BMC).

Five riders in Andre Greipel, Preben van Hecke, Pirmin Lang, Eduardo Sepulveda and Jerôme Baugnies.got into the break and were 6.30 ahead after 55kms.

Ten kilometres later and they had taken their advantage to seven minutes and then eight minutes after 75kms.

The peloton had enough and started to bring them back, restricting the five who were clear to 4.10 with 70kms left.

Thirty four kilometres later and the gap was down to 2.10 and 1.10 as they headed for three laps of a 5.4km circuit with 1 official KOM on each lap.

However, with eighteen kilometres to go, the break was caught and Philippe Gilbert rode away to take the stage win for the second time in this race with Maurits Lammertink taking the General Classification.
