Kluge Wins The Giro Stage 17

Roger Kluge of IAM Cycling took the win on stage seventeen of the Giro D'Italia.

With Steven Kruijswijk having maintained his lead in the race, stage seventeen was a less hillier 196km stage from Molveno to Cassano d’Adda.

Daniel Oss (BMC), Eugert Zhupa (Wilier Triestina-Southeast) and Pavel Brutt (Tinkoff) formed the first break and were 5.30 ahead after 40kms of racing.

Coming through the feedzone with less than a hundred kilometres remaining and the gap stood at 3.45.

Into Brescia and there was the intermediate sprint on a sunny day which Daniel Oss took to add to the sprints that he took in the first sprint of the day.

The gap stood at 3.15 with 63kms left but was down to 2.14 five kilometres later.

The next sprint was at Calcio and saw Oss narrowly beat Zhupa to the points with a lead of 1.18.

The trio up front were joined by Belkov, Konovalovas and Lars Bak  as the peloton closed in going into the final 11.5kms of the stage.

Into the final kilometres and Lars Bak and then Pozzatto attacked but it was IAM Cycling's Roger Kluge who won in 4.31.29.ahead of Giacomo Nizzolo and Niclas Arndt.
