Kangert Wins Abu Dhabi Tour

Tanel Kangert of Astana has won the Abu Dhabi Tour.

The fourth and final stage was 26 laps of the Yas Marina F1 circuit to make 147 kms and saw Michal Paluta (CCC Sprandi), Yauhen Sobal (Misnk), Kristian House (One Pro Cycling), Fredrik Frisson (Lotto-Soudal) and Sergey Firsanov (Gazprom-Rusvelo) get clear of a peloton which included race leader Tanel Kangert of Astana who had taken victory on stage three.

The break took a lead of a minute and the gap was at 1.30 with 84kms left.

House took the first intermediate sprint on this evening stage around a floodlit Yas Marina circuit ahead of Frison and Firsanov and the second sprint.

With forty kilometres to go, the gap was at 1.23 and 1.02 fifteen kilometes later.

House took the third sprint to complete the hat-trick and pick up six thousands euros as The peloton continued to grind down those out in front and with three laps remaining their lead was only 33 seconds.

Floris Gerts of BMC decided to attack out of the peloton with 14kms left and was able to catch up to Firsanov and Sobal, leaving Frison, House and Paluta out in front with ten kilometres remaining.

Onto the final lap and Frison, House and Paluta were only fifteen seconds ahead and with three kilometres to go after House and Paluta were caught, Frison sat up and let the peloton pass him.

At speeds of 60kmh, Orica Bike Exchange took to the front before Berni Eisel of Dimension Data led going under the flam rouge.

The sprint was on and there was Mark Cavendish to take the win in  3:07:44 ahead of Giacomo Nizzolo and Elia Viviani.

Tanel Kangert of Astana finished safely and he took the overall victory.
