Herrada Takes Criterium du Dauphine Stage Two

Movistar's Jesus Herrada took the win on the second stage of the Criterium du Dauphine.

A 168km second stage from from Crêches-sur-Saône to Chalmazel - Jeansagnière saw Daniel Teklehaimanot (Dimension Data) go clear on the first categorised climb of the day - the Col de Durbize and he joined by Alexey Lutsenko (Astana), Alexis Gougeard (AG2R-La Mondiale), Bartosz Huzarski (Bora-Argon 18), Jack Bauer (Cannondale) and Lilian Calméjane (Direct Energie).

Lutsenko dropped back to the peloton as the others took a three minute lead and Teklehaimanot took the main points on the Col de la Croix Nicelle climb.

The gap went out to 5.40 before Gougeard and Huzarski went away with less than twenty kilometres to go.

Michel Kwiatkowski (Team Sky) caught the remainder of the break before he was joined by Fabrice Jeandesboz (Direct Energie) and Serge Pauwels (Dimension Data) Tony Gallopin (Lotto Soudal) over the top of the Côte de Saint-Georges-en-Couzan climb.

Pauwels stayed away but was caught near the end and up came Jesus Herrada of Movistar to take the win in 4.13.43 ahead of Tony Gallopin of Lotto Soudal and Serge Pauwels.
