Warwickshire County Cricket Club piled on the runs on the third day of their County Championship match with Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.

Warwicks resumed on 274/4 and Sam Hain soon had his century from 224 balls in 268 minutes including nine fours and a six.

Tim Ambrose was the first Warwicks player to lose his wicket being caught for sixteen and followed by Rikki Clarke who hit a quick 46.

Hain was the seventh Warwickshire player out when he was trapped lbw after making 134.

Keith Barker and Chris Woakes took over but with Woakes on 49, he was out, giving a catch to Rob Newton.

Barker batted on after Jeetan Patal was out for nineteen and when he passed the century mark, finishing on 102 not out from 111 balls, Warwicks declared on a mammoth 602-9.

That left Northamptonshire 290 runs to make Warwickshire bat again and by stumps, Chris Woakes had taken the wickets of Peters, Levi and Keogh and Northamptonshire were on 51/3.
