Warwickshire County Cricket Club got off to a good start on their opening day of their County Championship match with Durham at Chester le Street.

Warwicks won the toss and decided to bat. Varun Chopra and Ian Westwood put on 71 for the first wicket before Westwood was caught behind by Richardson for 46.

Two runs later, Chopra was caught after making 26, bringing Will Porterfield and Mohammad Yousuf to the crease.

The pair added 43 runs before Youseuf became a second catch for Richardson. Captain Jim Troughton came in and Warwicks added 143 to take their second three runs short of a second batting point before Portfield, who had hit two sixes and 13 fours was out for 87.

Troughton and Clarke pushed the score on to 328 before Clarke went for 49 and Tim Ambrose was out next ball without scoring.
