Fourteenth Test Century For Bell

Coventry born Ian Bell completed his fourteenth test century for England on the fourth day of the second test with Sri Lanka at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

Bell resumed the day on thirty five and after nightwatchman Jimmy Anderson had departed, he went on to complete his century from 159 balls, hitting twelve fours.

He had been assisted by Eoin Morgan who made 71 and when Prior and Broad both went without scoring, England declared with Bell 119 not out, on 377-8, some 193 runs ahead.

At Stumps, Sri Lanka were 81 runs behind on 112-3 with former Warwickshire batsman Sangakkara on 44 not out.
