Fifty For Bell As Warwicks Start Well

Warwickshire County Cricket Club started well on the opening day of their County Championship game.

Warwicks batted first at Trent Bridge against Nottinghamshire and Varun Chopra and Will Porterfield opened the batting.

Chopra made 41 from 54 balls hit nine fours before being caught by Vokes off the bowling of Shreck to end a stand of seventy two.

Porterfield went to hit a half century from 71 balls in 89 minutes before rain stopped play with the score on 102-1.

Ten more runs were added by Porterfield and Bell before rain stopped play once more. Play did resume at 4.30pm and saw Porterfield caught behind by Read after making 54.

Bell past the fifty mark, hitting eight fours from 92 balls whilst Jon Trott was out after making 32.

Mohammed Yousuf had been out for a duck on his previous appearance at Trent Bridge but hit a four with the first ball he faced and was 27 not out along with Bell not out 68 as Warwicks closed the day on 233-3.

In the second eleven game at Binley Road, Coventry, Yorkshire were 85-5 against Warwicks Seconds with Keith Barker taking 4-12 when rain stopped play.

When play resumed, Barker took three more wickets to record figures of 7-43 from 21 overs as Yorkshire were bowled out for 196.

Warwicks closed on 43-0.
