Dupond Wins Koolkampkoers

 Timothy Dupond of Verandas Willems has won the Koolkampkoers race in Belgium.

This race in Flanders in the Napoleon Games Cup series, was in it's 101st edition and saw the riders taking on sixteen laps of a 9.3km circuit, covering a total of 192.4kms around Koolslamp.

A strong field which included Marcel Kittel of Etixx-Quick Step along with British riders - Dan McLay of Fortuneo Vital Concept, Tom Baylis, Josh Hunt and Kristian House of ONE Pro Cycling and Jacob Scott of An Post Chain Reaction.

After three laps, Maes, Van Keirsbulck, Henderson, Teunissen, Pedersen, Korsaeth, Skaarseth, Barbier, Leveau and Calleuw were briefly clear before they were reeled in and Teunissen tried again before Van Goethem, Verraes, Skaarseth, Kruopis took over.

They were caught and Gaviria, Keisse, Maes, Van Keirsbulck, De Bie, Ligthart, Jauregui, Hofland, Marchand, Halvorsen, Hoem, Caresmel, Calleeuw and Dan McLay took over taking a 12 seconds lead over first part of peleton and thirty seconds over the second part of the peloton after 68kms. 

However, that was not enough to stay away and Svendgaard, Druyts, Jansen, Caresmel and Duquennoy passed them to lead along with Moreno Hofland who had been in the last break.

They took a three minute lead with a hundred kilometres to go but were reeled in by the first peloton who were thirty seconds ahead of the second peloton with fifty kilometres left.

The attacks continued and the race ended up a sprint with Timothy Dupont winning ahead of Fernando Gaviria and Kenny Dehaes.
