Botha And Clarke Amongst The Wickets

Ant Botha and Rikki Clarke were amongst the wickets on the opening day of Warwickshire's County Championship match with Somerset at Edgbaston.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first and were going along steadily with Marcus Trescothwick making 51 out of the first 53 runs before Suppiah before the latter, who had lasted for 56 balls was caught by Johnson off the bowling of Rikki Clarke.

Butter came in and Clarke had him caught for a single before taking his third wicket of the opening session when he had Trescothwick, who had made 53, caught by Ant Botha.

Chris Woakes mopped up the wickets of Thomas and Willoughby to see Somerset 268 all out.

Ian Westwood was out for two runs in the third over when Warwickshire started their first innings. They closed on 2-1.

On the opening day of the second test between England and Bangladesh at Old Trafford, Coventry born Ian Bell was 87 not out was England ended the day on 275-5.

Jon Trott could not repeat his form with the bat from the first innings and only lasted five balls before he was out after having scored three runs.
