Boasson-Hagen Wins Criterium du Dauphine.Stage Four

Edvald Boasson-Hagen took the win on the fourth stage of the Criterium du Dauphine.

Alberto Contador was still in the lead for this 176km stage from Tain-l'Hermitage to Belley which was one for the sprinters with only two category four climbs.

Bouet, Nauleau and Veuchelen were in the first major break of the day and were 5.20 ahead after 47kms. 

Nauleau took the first climb of the day as Maxims Bouet continued in the break heading for the town he was born in.

With 48kms left, they were still 2.36 ahead. Veuchelen put in a long turn on the front as the peloton reduced the gap to 1.46.

Into the final fifteen kilometres and Nauleau decided that his day was done. Bouet tried to attack but Veuchelen marked it.

Bouet went again and was 35 seconds clear with ten kilometres left. Nauleau and Veuchelen were swept up by gthe peloton with 9kms to go. 

Bouet was caught with four kilometres to go and the expected sprint was on.

A Cofidis and AG2R rider crashed but it did not affect Contador, Froome, or those in general classification and Edvald Boasson-Hagen took the win in 4.39.26.

Second was Julian Alaphilippe of Etixx - Quick-Step, followed by Nacer Bouhanni Cofidis, Jens Debusschere of Lotto Soudal, and Greg Van Avermaet of BMC Racing Team.
