BMC have stated their intention to win the 103rd Tour De France.

The team have been planning for this year's race which starts at Mont-Saint-Michel since December and Tejay van Garderen said at the team's press conference this morning in Saint Lo: "This Tour is heavy on climbs but it suits us.

" In every bike race, there are lessons to be learnt and you have to do the simple things like sleeping and refuelling.

"My build up has not been too different to other years and was one of the Dauphine, then training blocks and recovery. I have had twelve days of recovery and feel fresh"

Stage One finishes on Utah Beach and van Garderen said about this historic area: " There are some powerful sights in Normandy. I used to think we are soldiers going to war but looking at the real soldiers and those who gave their life's, this is just bike racing.

"We are an international team with riders from around the world and our team shows how the world has moved on."
