Warwickshire County Cricket Club remain without a Yorkshire Bank 40 win after they went down to a 36 run defeat at Northamptonshire

At the County Ground in Northampton, the home side won the toss and batted first.

Chris Wright struck with ten runs on the board when he had Rob Newton caught by Jeetan Patal and then fifty eight runs were added before Boyd Rankin bowled Sales for 26.

Sales had been partnered by Kyle Coetzer who was next to go, being caught behind by Tim Ambrose for 35 to give Ateeq Javid a wicket.

Wakeley and Spriegel pushed the scored on to 136 before the skipper was bowled by Jeetan Patal.

Spriegel went for the same 35 runs as his captain when he was run out by Will Porterfield, which was followed by Chris Wright removing Andy Hall for one.

There was a third wicket for Wright when he had James Middlebrook caught for 21 after Northants had passed the 200 mark.

In the 39th over, Steve Crook who had top scored with forty runs was finally out giving Stefan Piolet his second wicket and three balls later the ninth wicket went down when Piolet had Copeland out for a single.

Northants ended their innings on 229-4 and when Warwicks batted, Varun Chopra was soon returning to the pavilion when Crook had him trapped lbw.

Crook then removed Jim Troughton to leave Warwicks on 7-2, which became 12-3 when Tim Ambrose was run out by Wakely.

Will Porterfield and Rikki Clarke came togther and put on 101 before Porterfield was caught by Newton off the bowling of Trent Copeland in the 23rd over.

Darren Maddy could only add four runs before he was caught behind by Murphy.

Warwicks were struggling to score runs and were well behind the run rate when Rikki Clarke went for 65 stumped by Murphy.to see Warwicks on 141-6 in the 32nd over.

Stefan Piolet went without scoring, Patal added only one as did Chris Wright and when Ateeq Javid who had made 31 was bowled by Hall, Warwicks were all out for 193 in 37.3 overs and went down to a 36 run defeat.
