Sean Yeats has quit Team Sky.

The talented rider, who was lead directeur sportif with Team Sky since 2010  has left to spend more time with his family.

He has firmly denied his decision to leave is anything to do with Team Sky's anti doping stance which means that no-one who has been involved in doping can be involved with the team.

Yeats, who had ridden with Lance Armstrong, told the Press Association: "I have suffered with my health in recent years and have spent a lot of time away from my home so I feel the time is right to focus on myself and my family.

"I realise the timing of my retirement will lead to speculation given what is currently going on in the sport but I can walk away with my head held high knowing I have done nothing wrong."
