World Champion The German Champion Again

If proof were needed going into the 100th Tour De France of the threat caused by Tony Martin in the time trial, it came on Friday when the Omega Pharma Quick Step rider retained the German National Time Trial championship.

The World Time Trial Champion retained the German national title in Allgäu when he completed the 50.5km course in a time of 1:00:58.

Martin, who said that the uncomplicated nature of the course suited him, had already passed the riders who started two minutes and four minutes ahead of him as he rode to a stunning victory, some ninety plus seconds ahead of Patrick Gretsch (Argos-Shimano), who finished in 1:02.31 and another twenty seconds ahead of third placed Stefan Schumacher of the Christina Watches team. 

Radio Shack's Bob Jungels won the 21.8km Luxembourg National Time Trial.

Team Sky's Kanstantsin Siutsou won the Belarusian title

Jan Bárta of Team NetApp-Endura won the Czech Republic National Time Trial

Tanel Kangert of Astana won the 42km Estonian National Time Trial

Rui Costa of Movistar won the Portuguese National Time Trial Championship.

Omega Pharma Quick Step's Peter Velits won the 41km Slovakian title.
