Wiggins Wins BBC Sports Personality

Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins won the BBC Sports Personality Of The Year.

The sport of cycling was well represented at the Excel Centre in London for the 59th year of the awards run by the BBC.

Tour De France 2012 winner and Olympic Time Trial Champion Bradley Wiggins, Olympian Sir Chris Hoy  and Paralympian Sarah Storey were all amongst the twelve sports people nominated. 

Mark Cavendish (pictured below), who won Sports Personality Of The Year last year brought in the trophy after flying in from a training camp run by his new team Omega Pharma Quick Step in Mallorca.

Team Of The Year went to Team GB including Vickie Pendleton and Paralympics GB, whilst Coach Of The Year went to Team Sky and British Cycling boss David Brailsford.

David Beckham and the Duchess of Cambridge presented the awards which saw Wiggins win with Jessica Ennis Second and Andy Murray third.

In Belgium, Tom Boonen won the Belgian Sports Personality Of The Year.
