Wiggins And Thomas Star In GB Team Pursuit Triumph

Team Sky riders Bradley Wiggins and Geraint Thomas were part of the four man Great Britain team which won the gold medal for the Mens Team 4000m Pursuit in the UCI World Track Championships in Manchester this afternoon.

The British quartet of Wiggins, Thomas, Ed Clancy and Steve Burke took on New Zealand in the final.

Olympic Champion Clancy lead the British team out and they easily took the first and second laps riding in a linear formation.

They posted a time of 1.03.4 for the opening kilometre, 57.5 seconds for the second kilometre and 56 seconds for the third kilometre.

By now, Britain was five seconds ahead of New Zealand and they were over the line first in a time of 3.55.438 which was a season best and the fifth best ever time.

Matt Frampton and Jason Kenny made it to the final of the JKA Keirin Final but the race was won by German Maximillian Levy.
