Warwicks Start Royal London Cup With A Win

Warwickshire County Cricket Club started their Royal London Cup campaign with a four run victory.

At Lords, Warwicks batted first and after losing Will Porterfield for five, Varun Chopra and Jon Trott put on 89 for the second which saw Chopra out for 46 caught by Rogers.

Trott went on to hit 78 from 108 balls and although Laurie Evans made forty six before he was run out, Ambrose, Clarke and Javid scored thirty two between them as Warwicks ended their innings on 240-7.after fifty overs.

Although, Middlesex had a third wicket stand of 94 with Chris Rogers making 96 before he was caught by Chopra, Warwicks were able to restrict the amount of runs Middlesex were making.

With ten overs to go, Middlesex needed 59 thanks to a fifty partnership between Higgins and Rogers and five overs later, they still needed thirty five.

Dexter was stumped by Ambrose and Simpson went to Patal and into the final six ball, Middlesex needed twelve runs to tie and thirteen runs to win.

Oliver Hannon Dalby bowled the final over and Roland Jones was run out going for a second run. Finn took a single, Murtagh hit a four and then a single. Finn missed the final ball and Warwicks had won by four runs.
