Warwicks Set 444 To Win

Warwickshire County Cricket Club were set a target of 444 to win on the third day of their County Championship match with Hampshire at The Rose Bowl.

Hants resumed their second innings on 82-1 and had Michael Carberry make 91 before he was caught by Tim Ambrose to give Boyd Rankin a wicket.

A second wicket for Rankin came when the same pair combined to remove Will Smith for two.

However, Jame Vince made an unbeaten 125 before they declared on 283-3.

Needing 444 to win in a day and a half, Warwicks lost Varun Chopra for eleven, Laurie Evans for a duck and Jon Trott for five before Hain went for eleven, and Ian Westwood, who made 53 from 106 balls was caught by Smith.

Tim Ambrose was out for sixteen to give Fidel Edwards a second wickets before they ended the day on 161-6, some 283 runs behind, with Rikki Clarke 53 not out.
