On the opening day of their County Championship game with Yorkshire at Edgbaston, Warwickshire County Cricket Club restricted the visitors to 177-4.

Yorkshire won the toss and opted to bat and made 46 before Lees was bowled by Ricky Clarke after making nineteen runs.

Lyth went four runs later, caught by Bell to give Rankin a wicket and it was 56-3 when Barker removed Gale for five.

Gary Ballance and Bairstow came together before Bairstow was out for twenty after being bowled by Chris Woakes.

Ballance batted on along with Jack Leaning and both had made fifty when rain and bad light curtailed the action and meant that only fifty eight overs were possible.
