Warwicks Find Alternative Venue

Warwickshire County Cricket Club are to use the The Mitchells & Butlers ground in Ladywood for Second Eleven fixtures next summer.

The ground, last used by Warwicks in 1993, has been taken over by the club who plan to play the occasional first team game there as well as second eleven fixtures.

"This will help us with scheduling," said Bears chief executive Colin Povey to the BBC.

"We will start out with younger age group cricket and then some second-team cricket.

"By 2017 we hope the facility will be good enough to host the odd first team game if we need to.

"If we are hosting Champions Trophy games it would be quite nice if we didn't have to be on the road for three weeks.

"Then, by 2019, with the Ashes and the World Cup, we are going to be choc-a-bloc."
