Veelers To Start Le Tour Off

Argos Shimano rider Tom Veelers will be first down the ramp to get the 2012 Tour De France underway today.

The Dutchman whose number is 219 will start on the 6.4km course at 2pm local time (1pm UK time). He will be followed by Orica GreenEdge's Simon Gerrans with the rest leaving at one minute intervals.

Bernie Eisel is the first Team Sky rider, going at 14.11.

Of the Brits and Irish riders in the race, Steve Cummings of BMC goes off at 14.43, David Millar at 14.59, Mark Cavendish 15.39, Daniel Martin 15.43, Chris Froome 16.45, Nicholas Roche 16.48 and Bradley Wiggins who goes off at 17.07 local time.
