Belkin's Jos Van Emden has won the Sparkassen Munsterland Giro in Germany .

This annual 205k race in the Nordrhein-Westfalen region of Germany saw four British riders in Andy Fenn of Omega Pharma Quick Step, NetApp Endura's Jon McEvoy and Scott Twaites and Simon Holt of Team Differdange-Losch as well as some big names in World Time Trial champion Tony Martin, Belkin's Mark Renshaw and Lars Boom and Marcel Kittel of Argos Shimano.

Tony Martin was in the first break of the day which consisted of thirteen riders in Timmer, Gretsch, Leezer, Van Hecke, Knees, Lammertink, Hellman, Forberger, Droste, Politt, Westmattelman and Soballa and they were forty seconds clear after 24kms.

With Westmattelman taking the first King Of The Mountains climb, riders started to drop away from the lead group and there was only Timmer, Martin, Leezer and Van Hecke left in the lead with a fifteen second gap to the peloton which had split in two as Van Hecke took the second KOM climb.

This break was caught and after 96kms, there was forty five seconds between the two groups.

Grabsch, Sys and Koch attacked and were joined by Van Baarle and Vermeer and then Timmer, Martin, Keisse, Wagner, Martens, Boom, Hofland, Kelderman, Leezer, Renshaw, Van Emden, Bovenhuis, Van Trijp and Dieteren.

That break was considered too dangerous to be allowed to get away and that was quickly brought back and with just over 50kms to go,  Veelers, Keisse, Van Emden and Van Staeyen now lead with a gap of 1.50 which went out to three minutes.

Their lead stayed at around 2.30 and that was enough for Belkin's Jos Van Emden to take the win with Tom Veelers of Argos Shimano finishing second some six seconds back and Iljo Keisse of Omega Pharma Quick Step, third eleven seconds back. Fourth was Van Staeyen, followed by Van Baarle, Timmer, Zabel,  Hofland, Dieteren and Reinhardt.
