The opening stage of the AMGEM Tour Of California was cancelled today due to the weather.
The race should have started with a 191 kilometres route stage around Lake Tahoe. However, overnight snow and a drop in temperatures saw the race shortened to 80km and the start time delays.
A few minutes after the race was due to start word was reached that the stage had been cancelled.
Stage two on Monday is from a 214km stage rom Squaw Valley to Sacramento.
