Team Sky Win Tour Of Romandie Team Time Trial

Team Sky have won the Team Time Trial at the Tour Of Romandie in Switzerland.

The team trial was over a 19.2km course from La Vallee de Joux to Jurapac and started at 3.45pm with Team Europcar going first down the ramp.

Europcar completed the course in 22.26 and their time was soon beaten by LottoNL Jumbo who finished in 22.15 and Cannondale Garmin in 21.59.

At the halfway stage, Cannondale-Garmin were still leading by a second from Lampre and two seconds from Trek Factory Racing.

Australian side Orica GreenEdge, who included British riders Simon Yates took over the lead of the race when they finished in 21.19, some thirty nine seconds quicker than Cannondale-Garmin.

Katusha went provisionally second finishing five seconds down on the time of Orica GreenEdge with Etixx Quick Step finishing fourteen seconds down to go provisionally third.

Team Sky who had a very strong team which included 2013 Tour De France winner Chris Froome, Geraint Thomas, Peter Kennaugh, Luke Rowe and Ian Stannard were last down the ramp.

Sky matched Orica's time at the split and were able to finish less than a second ahead of Orica with Geraint Thomas the first man over the line which puts him in the leaders jersey for the second stage from Apples to St Imier.
