Strong British Team For The World Track Championships

Great Britain will be fielding a strong team for the World Track Cycling Championships in Manchester tomorrow.

Team Sky's Bradley Wiggins, Ben Swift along with British Road Race Champion Geraint Williams (pictured below) will ride in the three day championships for which there are London 2012 Olympic qualification points.



Also in the mens team is three times Olympic Champion Sir Chris Hoy who goes in the Team Sprint along with Matt Crampton, Ross Edgar and Jason Kenny.

Those named in the Team Pursuit are Andy Tennant, Steven Burke, Wiggins and Thomas, whilst Hoy and Kenny will ride the Sprint and Ben Swift the Omnium.

There is also a strong Women's team despite the injury to Becky Romero with Victoria Pendleton, Lizzie Armitstead, Wendy Houvenagel and Shanaze Reade all competing.

The schedule is as follows:
Friday, February 18 - Day One
Men's Sprint, Men's Omnium, Women's Team Pursuit, Men's Individual pursuit, Women's Team Sprint.

Saturday, February 19 - Day Two
Women's Sprint, Women's Omnium, Men's Omnium (concluded from day one), Men's Keirin, Woman's scratch race.

Sunday, February 20 - Day Three
Women's Omnium (concluded from day two), Women's Keirin, Men's Team pursuit, Men's Team Sprint, Men's JKA Keirin.
