Strava Backs Friends Life Women's Tour For Second Year

Last updated : 31 March 2015 By Women's Tour
Strava, the global online community for athletes, has announced that it will partner with the Friends Life Women's Tour for the second year running. The company was one of the founding event partners and after a hugely successful first edition will continue to award the Official Strava Queen of the Mountains Jersey, won last year by Sharon Laws of UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling.

Awarded to the best climber in The Friends Life Women's Tour, riders will battle for points at two designated Strava Queen of the Mountains climbs on each stage of the race.

The first riders across each summit will win points with the rider who has accumulated the most points wearing the Strava Queen of the Mountains jersey.

Strava gives unrivalled insight into the race as key riders upload their Women's Tour race activities to the platform. Last year, pro riders regularly uploaded their race activities, including race winner Marianne Vos (strava.com/pros/mariannevosofficial) and Olympic champion Dani King (strava.com/pros/3263919).

Mick Bennett, Friends Life Women's Tour Race Director, said: "We are delighted to welcome Strava back to the Friends Life Women's Tour as supporters of women's cycling and the Queen of the Mountains competition.  It is great to have the support of a market leading sports brand showing the appeal of the race to a worldwide audience.”

Simon Klima, UK Country Manager at Strava, said: "The Friends Life Women's Tour had an incredible first year and we were really pleased to be part of that. Our millions of members can join in the Women's Tour experience by joining our challenges and following the Strava Pros who upload their race activities.”
