Steve Cummings has won the Tour Méditerranéen in Toulon.

The fourth and final stage of this first stage race of the season in France had Britain's Steve Cummings from the Wirral in the leaders jersey after he took the Individual Time Trial on Stage 3B with a four second lead.

Cummings needed to complete a 192.7km stage from Bandol to Mont Faron in Toulon and watched on as Omar Fraile, Rydy Kowalski, Mark Christian and Tom Dernies built a 2.50 lead after 15kms.

That went out to 5.30 after 32kms and was kept in check by BMC who had the gap down to three minutes when Christian punctured with 41kms remaining.

Now down to three riders, the trio stayed away until the twelve kilometres to go mark and as the riders approached the Pied du Mont Faron climb, the attacks started.

Cherel & Selvaggi went first but they were caught and replaced by Argentinian Eduardo Sepulveda of the Bretagne Team, who was fifth in the general classification and Jean-Christophe Peraud of AG2R who was fourth.

A group of fifteen riders including Steve Cummings went after them, knowing that either could take the victory overall.

Cummings closed them down but could not stop Jean-Christophe Peraud from taking the stage win ahead of Sepulveda and Denifl.

Over the line next was Steve Cummings. The British rider was fifteen seconds ahead of Peraud at the start of the stage and crossed the line ten seconds down on the Frenchman to take the victory.
