Luis Leon Sanchez won the Clasica San Sebastian race this afternoon.

A good number of riders who had competed in the Tour De France, including runner up Andy Schleck raced in the Clasica San Sebastian, in San Sebastian in Spain.

In a 234km race which included the Alto de Jaizkibel climb, Team Sky had Brit Russell Downing in the field whilst AG2R had Ireland's Nicholas Roche (pictured below) who impressed many during Le Tour.

Three riders broke eight minutes clear before the 120km mark which saw Andy Schleck retire.

With less than 40ok to go, Roche was in a group that was leading the chase back. They were twenty seconds down and pulled that back before Luis Leon Sanchez went away.

The Caisse d'Epargne rider along with Carlos Sastre from the Cervelo TestTeam and Astana's Alexandre Vinokourov headed for the line.

Vinokourov lead them out but Luis Leon Sanchez picked his moment and surged to victory.
