Liquigas' Peter Sagan won the Tour De Suisse Individual Time Trial this afternoon.

A 7.3km opener in Lugano greeted a strong field who took to the road in one minute intervals after the early rain of the day had stopped.

Moreno Moser set the early time to beat of 9.50 and it was a time that the likes of Frank Schleck, Britain's Ben Swift, Luke Rowe and Adam Blythe along with Ireland's and AG2R's Nicholas Roche could not better.

At 16.56 local time, stage favourite Fabian Cancellera went down the ramp. He was nine seconds down at the half way split but he improved on the second half and finished in a time of 9.47.

With last man down the ramp in last year's winner Levi Leipheimer slow on the course, there was only Peter Sagan who could beat Cancellera's time and beat it he did coming home in 9.43.
