Liquigas-Cannondale's Peter Sagan won the second stage of the third Tour of Qatar today.
A 140.5km stage from Sur to Wadi Dayqah Dam saw Martin Kohler (BMC Racing), Klaas Lodewijck (BMC Racing), David Boucher (FDJ-BigMat) and Diego Caccia (Farnese Vini) all get away before they were pulled back with five kilometres to go.
The final descent took its toll on a number of riders and there was only a few left to contest the sprint to the finish which the Slovakian won, ahead of Baden Cooke and Tom Jelte Slagter.
Mark Cavendish and Jeremy Hunt finished in a group some 3.30 down.
Stage three tomorrow is from Al Awabi (Al Alya) to Muscat Heights (Bank Muscat HQ) and is 144.5kms long
